Posters depicting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as Lord Krishna were put up at various places in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district on Wednesday, the day the Congress leader is expected to arrive here with his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
In the posters, Gandhi is portrayed as Lord Krishna riding a chariot, while Ajay Rai, the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief, is depicted as Arjun. These posters were placed on the Mall Road, near the Cantonment, and the Ghantaghar area, courtesy of Sandeep Shukla, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC).

Shukla, whose photo is featured at the bottom of the posters, could not be reached for a comment. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Gandhi, is scheduled to arrive in Kanpur via Unnao on Wednesday, where Gandhi will address a public meeting. The yatra commenced in Manipur on January 14.
The east-to-west Manipur-Mumbai yatra, which entered Uttar Pradesh last Friday, is scheduled to traverse 6,700 kilometres through 15 states. It aims at highlighting the message of “nyay” (justice) while meeting common people on the way.
