Itanagar: The ruling Congress in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday admitted that it did approach two BJP Lok Sabha members from the state to vote for the confidence motion in Lok Sabha on nuclear deal issue to save the UPA Government, but denied having offered money or Congress tickets to them.
Addressing a press conference in Itanagar, APCC President Nabam Tuki said, "It is true we approached both Kiren Rijiju and Tapi Gao to vote for the confidence motion as done by members of some non-UPA parties.
"But we deny having offered money or party tickets as being claimed by Rijiju and Gao during their campaign for re-election to Lok Sabha," he said.
Rijiju has been claiming that Rs 100 crore and Congress ticket were offered to him by Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu.
Khandu, who in August 2007 successfully made all the nine BJP MLAs defect to Congress, later at a function openly invited Rijiju to join Congress which was spurned by the latter.
