We didn't vote against Bill, voted for L-G's message: Congress
Congress said that Kejriwal never wanted the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill to be translated into a law.

New Delhi: Amid intense speculation that Arvind Kejriwal will resign as Delhi Chief Minister following the defeat of the Jan Lokpal Bill due to stiff opposition by Congress and BJP, Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely said his party did not vote against the Bill, but voted in favour of the message send by the Lt Governor.

"We always said that we are in favour of the Jan Lokpal Bill. Today, we did not vote against the Bill but voted in favour of the message send by the Lt Governor to the Assembly. "We wanted the Bill to be brought in accordance to the laid down procedures of the Constitution. We are not against Arvind Kejriwal and this government," said Singh after the Assembly was adjourned.

On the issue of Kejriwal resigning from the Chief Minister's post, Singh said, "He (Kejriwal) should not behave like a school boy. Is he more intelligent than the President of India, Lt Governor of Delhi, law experts and is he above the constitution? We have been saying that let the Bill be sent to the Centre and we will get it approved within a few days as per the procedure," said Singh.

Attacking Kejriwal further, Singh said that the Chief Minister never wanted the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill to be translated into a law. "In reality, Kejriwal ji never never wanted the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill to be translated into a law, otherwise he would have followed the laid down procedures. He wants to go with this issue to the Loksabha polls," said Singh.

Reacting to Kejriwal's remarks about Congress and BJP being in connivance as the Delhi government ordered filing of an FIR against RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, Singh said, "He wanted to give subsidy to Ambani's power company and he is accusing us."
