Censor Board Clears Darshan-starrer Kaatera With U/A Rating
Directed by Tharun Sudhir, the film stars Darshan, Jagapathi Babu, and Aradhana Ram, in the lead roles.

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, also known as Challenging star Darshan, is all set to grace the silver screens with his upcoming film Kaatera. The movie is said to be based on a true story, unfolding in a rural setting. Recently, the film has received a U/A certification from the censor board. According to Filmbeat, Kaatera has a runtime of nearly 2 hours and 59 minutes.

Directed by Tharun Sudhir, the film stars Darshan, Jagapathi Babu, and Aradhana Ram, in the leading roles. The other cast of the film includes Radhana Ram, Vaijanath Biradar, Shruti, and Kumar Govind in supporting roles. Touted to be an action drama, Kaatera is produced by Rockline Venkatesh.

With music composed by V. Harikrishna, the cinematography of the film is handled by Sudhakar S Raj. A special song from the movie, set in a village backdrop and centred around realistic themes, is scheduled to be released on Farmer’s Day during a grand pre-release event.

During an interview with CE, composer V Harikrishna and cinematographer Sudhakar S Raj provided insights on the upcoming film Kaatera.

“The soil and stories of the land are the soul of music,” says composer V Harikrishna, highlighting that the film Kaatera stands out because of its depiction of rural life. With over 20 collaborations with Darshan, Harikrishna highlights the influence of rural elements on his music.

Harikrishna explains the creative process, saying, “It’s not about being new or different, but about blending with the village essence in the story.” Talking about the farmer song, he highlights the strong lyrics by Punith Arya and mentions two lines designed to connect with the farming community.

Controversy surrounds Kaatera following Tharun’s unveiling of its poster, with some users noting similarities to the poster of Dhanush-starrer Karnan. Karnan centres around a courageous villager advocating for the rights of villagers oppressed by a police officer.

Darshan Thoogudeepa is best known for films like Saarathi, Roberrt, Yajamana, and Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna. The actor was last seen in the film Kranti, directed by Harikrishna. He has a few projects in the pipeline including KD- The Devil, Raja Veera Madakari Nayaka and Gandugali Madakari Nayaka.

Meanwhile, Tharun Sudhir shot to fame with films like Chowka, Tiger, and Roberrt.
