The year 2024 will see a lot of new films released in theatres. Among the most anticipated films is Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, which is likely to challenge all the box office records.
Kalki 2898 AD is the most expensive Indian film of the year 2024. As per trade pundit Manobala Vijayabalan, the film is being made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. Interestingly, the amount of the expenditure for the film has exceeded the combined budgets of recent hits Salaar which was made on a budget of Rs 270 crore, Animal whose budget was Rs 100 crore, and Dunki which required Rs 140 crore to be completed.
Given the budget of the upcoming mass entertainer, it can be said that Kalki 2898 AD is even bigger than Brahmastra and Baahubali among other films. Both the films were made on a budget of Rs 400 crore and Rs 250 crore respectively.
Sources claim that Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is the most expensive Indian film ever made leaving behind magnum opus like Adipurush and RRR. Since a few other sources also claim that Adipurush’s budget was Rs 700 crore, Kalki 2898 AD could be in the second spot. Billed as a pan-India film, the upcoming film stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. With a strong ensemble cast, the film is expected to be grand in terms of state-of-the-art VFX and CGI effects.
The film is expected to shatter all box office records and create a new wave in the entertainment industry. Given Prabhas’ return to form with Salaar, the film is also believed to emerge as one of the highest-grossing films not only in the Telugu market but in the Hindi and Tamil markets as well. Simply put, it is expected to cross the Rs 1300 crore mark of RRR and the Rs 1600 crore mark of Baahubali 2.
