Rajinikanth, one of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars, continues to bask in the success of his latest film, Jailer, which has crossed the 500 crore mark worldwide. The actor is now set to play a pivotal role in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Lal Salaam. The father-daughter duo recently attended the film’s audio launch in Chennai, where Aishwarya addressed the recent social media branding of Rajinikanth as a ‘Sanghi.’
At the event held on January 26, Aishwarya spoke candidly about the term ‘Sanghi’ and its association with a political party. She clarified, “Rajinikanth is not a Sanghi. If he was, he wouldn’t have done a film like Lal Salaam.” Aishwarya’s impassioned defence of her father moved Rajinikanth to tears.
Sharing insights into the making of Lal Salaam, Aishwarya revealed that securing financial backing for the film was initially challenging. Despite not approaching her father for support, he took a keen interest in the script and willingly joined the project. Aishwarya expressed gratitude to the communities of Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Pondicherry for treating Rajinikanth like a son during the film’s shoot.
Lal Salaam is a sports drama featuring Vishnu and Vikranth in lead roles, with Rajinikanth making an extended cameo appearance. Aishwarya emphasized the sensitive nature of the film’s subject and acknowledged that only a person with deep humanity, like her father, would agree to be part of such a project.
The film, produced by Lyca Productions, is set to hit theatres on February 9, offering audiences a unique cinematic experience. As Aishwarya Rajinikanth passionately defends her father against online criticisms, their emotional connection and commitment to meaningful cinema shine through, creating anticipation for the release of Lal Salaam.
