Prashanth Neel’s Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, opened to a thunderous response at the box office. The film is running successfully in theatres and has raked in over Rs 360 crore at the Indian box office. The official Instagram page of Salaar shared that the movie has crossed Rs 700-crore mark, globally. If the reports are to be believed, the film has touched a new milestone in Telugu cinema. In an extraordinary achievement, Salaar crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in Telugu states. With the latest development, the Prabhas starrer has become the third film to achieve this milestone, and is only after Rajamouli’s RRR and Baahubali 2. Interestingly, the worldwide collection of the Prabhas-starrer and the domestic box office are equally roaring.
Reportedly, the film minted Rs 90.7 crore on its first day with Rs 66.75 crore in the Telugu states. On the second day, it earned Rs 56.35 crore, out of which Rs 34.25 crore was made in the Telugu language. On day three, the film grossed a whopping Rs 62.05 crore with Rs 35 crore from the Telugu states.
Based on Prashanth’s 2014 Kannada film Ugramm, Salaar displays an imaginary city of Khansar. The film explores the city of two childhood friends who eventually turn enemies. Prabhas plays Deva in the film, whereas Prithviraj plays Varadharaja Mannar. Apart from the lead roles, the film also boasts an ensemble cast of Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Sriya Reddy, and others in primary roles.
It is pertinent to note that Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the box office. Next, Prabhas will be returning to entertain the masses with Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. The film will be released in the second half of this year and will feature Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani in the key roles.
