Vivek Oberoi Compares Sandeep Reddy Vanga With Ram Gopal Varma, Says 'He Feels Madly For Cinema'
After Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap, Vivek Oberoi hailed Sandeep Reddy Vanga amid criticism and backlash.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga had divided the industry again with his recent directorial Animal. While some have supported the film-maker, others have called him out for his problematic views and themes. Amid this, Vivek Oberoi has come forward to laud Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his passion towards cinema.

Speaking with the news agency PTI, Vivek Oberoi expressed, “He (Vanga) is a man who feels madly (for cinema). The day he calls me and says, ‘I have this role for you’, I’ll be like, ‘Count me in’. I want to be directed by a person who thinks out of the box. It reminds me of what Ramu ji (Varma) used to be.”

The actor further quipped about the onslaught of criticism directed at Sandeep, “As a creative person, I don’t believe in judging people by any moral compass because moral compass can shift. There was a time when if you (women) didn’t cover your head, you would receive flak for it. If you are a professional working where other men were involved, you would receive flak. So, things change, the moral compass shifts… As an artist, you cannot have boundaries. You have to see things from an artistic perspective,” he explained.

In a recent interview, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga lashed out at those calling his film ‘misogynistic’ and shared that it is not right to use such terms for either of his movies, Animal or Kabir Singh.

Released on December 1, Animal revolves around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film shows Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggles to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). Animal has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
