Google Maps Now Lets You Share Live Location With Friends Like WhatsApp On Mobile: How It Works
Not just WhatsApp, Maps also now offers you the option to share live location with friends and family from your phone with extra details.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging app for millions but that’s because it has features that go beyond chatting. You can send files, make payments and even share live locations with friends and family. Google is bringing a similar feature to Maps for its users that can be shared with more granular details such as current battery status of your phone along with the real-time location of the person.

The feature is live now for those using Maps on mobile, both iOS and Android devices. All one has to do is enable the share location feature on their Google account for Maps.

Share Live Location With Friends On Maps: How It Works

– Open Google Maps on your Android/iOS device

– Tap on the profile icon on the top-right

– Click on Location sharing option

– Enable share location button to get started

– Now you will see your real-time position on the Maps

– Maps will also show your phone’s current battery status

– Now you can share real-time location with friends or family for different time limits

– You can manually choose how many one hours you want to share location

– Or your location will be shared until you turn this off

Maps is giving you the option to share the real-time location link via the Messages app, Chrome, Bluetooth and even WhatsApp for those who would prefer doing that.

Google is bringing a host of changes to Maps in recent weeks. The first big change is the colour tone of Maps, which is changing after decades, as admitted by the company itself.

You also have new cities added to street view, and the ability to use walk-assistance mode in India. In addition to these, people can now use Maps to save money on fuel by using the most economical route for their journey via car or two-wheeler. All these features will be rolling out to Maps users in India in 2024 via different updates.
