Amazon announced that its popular Prime service had broken records by attracting over three million new users in the last week running up to Christmas.

Amazon has announced record-breaking holiday statistics, including the news that over 3 million subscribers signed up to the service during the third week of December.

In a press release published on December 28, Amazon announced that its popular Prime service had broken records by attracting over three million new users in the last week running up to Christmas.

The service, which offers $99/year free-shipping and a video-streaming subscription service is celebrating a "Record-Setting Holiday for Prime, Amazon Original Series and Amazon Devices." New users include paid memberships as well as those testing the service on a trial basis.

Amazon also announced that figures for Amazon-brand devices (such as the Fire tablet, Amazon Echo and Fire TV Stick) had doubled from last year.
