New Delhi: Asus has finally launched its much-awaited ZenFone Zoom smartphone in India. While the phone alone is priced at Rs 37,999, the company has also introduced a kit, which includes a ZenFone Zoom, ZenFlash and a tripod, at a price of Rs 39,999.

The phone, which comes in two colours - Pure Black and Ceramic White, is up for sale on Flipkart. It, however, will be available in Asus exclusive stores from February 2016.

The highlight of the phone is the optical zoom capability in the rear camera that is expected to add a new dimension to camera performance. The ZenFone Zoom sports a 13-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom and a dual-tone LED flash, which is said to create more natural illumination for indoor environments and generate the perfect combination of yellow and white to capture lifelike colours and skin tones.

Also, its rear camera features a 10-element lens design with up to 12x digital zoom for finer close-up details. It also has an optical image stabiliser (OIS) for shake-free photos.

The ZenFone Zoom, which takes its cue from the look and feel of a DSLR camera, also includes dedicated buttons for recording and zooming.

As claimed by the company, "the ZenFone Zoom's rear lens has laser auto-focus to point and shoot with total clarity in just 0.03 seconds."

Equipped with DSLR-like capabilities, the phone's camera also allows for adjustment of shutter speed, exposure value, white balance, ISO and a host of other professional grade settings. The phone has a 5 megapixel shooter at the front.

The ZenFone Zoom, which is claimed to be the world's thinnest 3x optical-zoom smartphone, is encased in an aluminium unibody with a pure leather back, and measures 5 mm at the edges.

At its heart is a 64-bit Intel Z3590 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz paired with 4 GB of RAM. The phone, which comes in only one storage variant, offers an internal storage space of 128 GB, with an option to expand memory. The phone's microSD card slot supports a card of up to 128 GB. This 4G phone supports only one SIM.

The ZenFone comes packed with a 3000 mAh non-removable lithium-polymer battery. According to Asus, its BoostMaster technology for turbo-speed charging can take the battery level in the ZenFone Zoom from 0 to 60 per cent in just 39 minutes.

At the front is a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top of it, which is said to be two times tougher than its predecessor. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI atop.

With the aim to help users shoot comfortably, Asus has also introduced strap options for the phone.
