Google Has Killed This Search Feature For Everyone: All Details
Google Search users have relied on this feature to access the old version of web pages but now that's gone.

Google’s Search is losing a big feature that has been part of its structure since the early days. The company has killed the feature called cached web pages which is basically an easy way to view the first version of a webpage that was picked up by Google. It seems that Google has stopped offering these cache links which is likely to be replaced with something modern or may be a new tool that does a better job.

The development was shared via a post on X this week by the handle called Google’s Search Liaison. The handle further hinted at the reason for killing the feature, suggesting it was helpful back in the days when page loading time used to be high. And as we all know, those problems are long gone, and hence, Google seems happy to pull the trigger yet again, this time to kill cache links.

Google has been supporting old-age websites to sustain in situations when they go down or face some issues. Having cache links available made it easy to access the web pages and make the necessary tweaks to get the website up and running. Google is no stranger to killing features and products and history shows the company will happily do it as long as the purpose is served.

Having said that, we have seen products like Stadia shut down without any warning, and leaving thousands of subscribers scratching their head about the company and its random decisions. The biggest gripe with Google for many is that the company just ends offering a product and in this case, it has not even announced the decision to kill the feature. It doesn’t look good on the company but we’re unlikely to see things change.

What's your reaction?
