iPhone 15 Could Be Less Popular Among Buyers This Year: Here’s The Reason
iPhone 16 series will be getting AI via an update before the end of 2024 but people buying the iPhone 15 will now have to rethink their plans

iPhone 15 could become less relevant in the market once the iPhone 16 series launches in the coming weeks. Apple confirmed that the regular iPhone 15 models will not be getting its Intelligence (AI) features, and you will need the iPhone 15 Pros or the new iPhone 16 models to experience these tools.

Usually, you will see people eagerly waiting for the new launches because that brings a strong drop in the price of the older models. But this year’s situation could be different in many countries, especially if they want to get a taste of Apple’s AI and are happy to pay the premium, either by buying the 15 Pro or biting their temptation into buying the iPhone 16 model.

And if that won’t be enough, reports claim the new-look iPhone SE 4 model launching in early 2025 will also offer AI features which puts the iPhone 15 further down the barrel. Imagine you paid Rs 85,000 for an iPhone and you hear that some of the latest features will never come to the device, that will definitely discourage buyers who might spread the word in their circle, thereby affecting iPhone sales in some regions.

Having said that, countries like India will probably see high demand for the old iPhones even if they won’t get the AI features. After all, the buyers look at iPhones as an aspirational product, which explains why you can still buy the four-year-old iPhone 12 model thanks to various online sales.

But India is not Apple’s biggest iPhone sales market, that laurel goes to countries like the US and China, where its demand has been eaten away by local Chinese brands in recent years.

Talking about AI, Apple’s big AI launch was supposed to happen with the iPhone 16 series in September but it seems the company is now going ahead with its usual launch plan for the new iPhones. Reports say that the delay in release of Apple Intelligence via iOS 18 is not going to affect Apple’s plans to launch the iPhone 16 series which is expected to go through sometime in September.

Earlier it was estimated that Apple will want to use the big iPhone 16 platform to introduce AI on its devices and demo it publicly as well. Instead, Bloomberg claims that the company will launch the AI-centric hardware at the September event and later AI features will come to the compatible iPhones in October.
