iQOO 12 is launching in India as the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphone in the country but the brand will have another first in its cap when the product is announced next month. iQOO has confirmed that the new flagship phone from the brand will come with Android 14 version out of the box, making it the first non-Pixel phone to have the version in the country.
iQOO continues to use Vivo’s Funtouch OS skin and thus it will be based on Android 14 which is definitely good to see from the company as more Android 14-based phones are being lined up for the start of 2024 in the country. In China the company uses the OriginOS custom interface but it seems they are continuing to persist with Funtouch for other market.
iQOO 12 is launching on December 12 in the country and it has already made its way to online platforms, giving us a closer look at the new camera layout and other expected features.
The brand has not revealed the camera and battery details for the phone but going by the model launched in China earlier, we expect to see a triple rear camera layout and a fast-charging battery. iQOO 12 should be available in the black and white colour models that we have seen earlier from the company, but we’re not sure if buyers in India will be spoilt with multiple RAM and storage options.
iQOO 12 Expected Specifications
As per the details available, iQOO 12 could feature a 144Hz OLED display with a 3000 nits of peak brightness, one of the best in the market. The phone is offered with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage but in India we expect the brand to offer a 12GB and 256GB variant to keep the price competitive.
It is rumoured that the phone will pack a 5000mAh battery that will support 120W wired fast charging but wireless charging might be missing once again. Going with all these features, it is likely that iQOO 12 price in India could be around Rs 55,000 which gives it a solid footing before Xiaomi 14 series and the OnePlus 12 model launches early next year.
