New Delhi: Amazon has launched Kindle Unlimited - a subscription service that lets customers read as much as they want from its library of digital books - in India. With this new service, subscribers in India can explore over 1 million titles on Kindle or any device that has the Kindle app installed.
The new service starts at Rs 199 per month, but early birds can get their first month of subscription for Rs 99. This limited period offer, however, is available only till September 30. Customers can also sign up for six months for Rs 999 or 12 months for Rs 1799.
Users don't need to own a Kindle device to make use of the Kindle Unlimited service. With free Kindle Reading apps available across platforms, they can also read on any device that has the Kindle app installed.
"Readers can freely read books across genres of literature, fiction, health, productivity, business and economics, biographies, children books and many more including titles like Chetan Bhagat’s Half girlfriend, Making India Awesome, Immortals of Meluha by Amish, The One You Cannot Have by Preeti Shenoy, Daily Inspiration from the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma, War Brides by Helen Bryan, All I Need Is You by Julia London, Stay Hungry Stay Foolish by Rashmi Bansal, 13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck by Ashwin Sanghi," says the company.
This new service was first introduced in the US back in July last year.
Amazon, which drove the growth of e-books after launching the Kindle in 2007, has branched out into other forms of digital content in recent years. It offers streaming video and music for members of its Prime program and is developing original content.
