New Delhi: We finally have a launch date for the much-talked-about OnePlus 2, the successor to the OnePlus One smartphone. The company in a blog post has revealed that the phone will be unveiled on July 27. Pushing the envelope, the company will have the OnePlus 2 launch event a tad different from the usual ones where there is an auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience.
"We will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 to the world completely in virtual reality. Starting July 27 at 7:00pm PT (7:30am IST, July 28), everyone around the world can stream our launch.
A VR launch lets viewers stand right next to the OnePlus team as it unveils the new flagship. "When we thought about doing this launch in VR, we wanted to make sure the viewing experience was simple and straightforward. We love the existing cardboard VR headsets, but we saw some room for improvement, and decided to design our own custom headsets. We spent a lot of time at the drawing board tweaking them until they were perfect. Our version is tailored perfectly to the One, as well as fast and easy to assemble."
The company will soon release its own OnePlus Cardboard headset.
The OnePlus 2 will come with the new USB Type-C port, a reversible port for charging, data transfer, and external output. It is also expected to come packed with an improved Snapdragon 810 processor and a quad HD display.
