A collection of images posted on Imgur shows Toru Iwatani the former Japanese video game designer who created the iconic arcade game Pac-Man showing his original drafts for the game hand-drawn on graph paper.
Back in the 1980s, this pellet-chomping arcade game was a sensation. 35 years later, classic game lovers swear by the iconic Pac-Man. Launched in Japan on May 22, 1980, the game was a charming relief from arcade games dominated by alien shooting and sports games.
Toru Iwatani, designer of the game’s character, has said that his goal was to bring video games to a wider audience, specifically women. The maze-like levels and colorful characters were a welcome change from the usual arcade games and became a sensation instantly.
