Poco F3 May Launch As Rebranded Redmi K40 for Global Markets, Multiple Certifications Tip
Earlier in February, a Poco phone with the model number M2012K11AG surfaced on the IMDA and IMEI database, suggesting its launch in India as well. The IMDA database mentions features such as 5G connectivity, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

The newly launched Redmi K40 phone will likely debut as a Poco smartphone for the global markets. As per a US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) listing, a Poco smartphone with model number M2012K11AG and FCC ID 2AFZZK11AG received certification on January 31, 2021. The same model number has been previously associated with the Redmi K40 that launched in China last month. Earlier in February, a Poco phone with the same model number surfaced on the IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) and IMEI database, suggesting its launch in India as well. Therefore, it likely implies that the Redmi K40 will launch as Poco F3 (or some other moniker) for the global markets. The development was initially spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav and shared via a Twitter post.

The FCC listing does not highlight any notable specifications of the Poco phone (likely Poco F3) apart from the presence of Android 11-based MIUI 12. On the other hand, the IMDA database mentions features such as 5G connectivity, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Currently, Poco is also yet to officially reveal the development of the Poco F3. Notably, the Poco F2 Pro that debuted globally in May 2020 was a rehashed version of the Redmi K30 Pro, launched first in China in March 2020. Both the phones did not launch in India.

If the speculation over Redmi K40 being a rebranded version of Poco F3 is accurate, we can expect features such as a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone may also pack a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel macro shooter. For selfies, there could be a 20-megapixel shooter inside a hole-punch cutout. The Poco F3 may also pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset, a 4,520mAh battery and at least 6GB RAM. The Redmi K40 price in China starts at CNY 1,999 (approx Rs 22,500) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
