Upcoming Nokia Phones May Adopt New Letter-Based Naming Scheme, Nokia G10 Specs Tipped
HMD Global will reportedly introduce new G-series and H-series smartphones instead of refreshing the existing number-based devices like Nokia 5.4. Typically, several phone OEMs rely on letter based-series that is easily recognisable by consumers.

The upcoming Nokia smartphones are said to launch with a new scheme instead of using a number-based naming system such as Nokia 5.4 and Nokia 2.4. According to NokiaPowerUser, the company’s mobile brand licensee HMD Global will introduce new G-series and H-series smartphones instead of refreshing the number-based devices. Typically, several phone OEMs rely on letter-based names that are easily memorable and recognisable by consumers. For instance, Samsung typically introduces budget phones under its Galaxy A-series while the mid-budget offerings are reserved under the Galaxy M-series or the Galaxy F-series. Its premium line of products come under the Galaxy S-lineup.

The report adds that the new naming scheme for Nokia devices will be used between 2021-2027. The report further claims that the successor of the alleged Nokia G10 will release as Nokia G10-01 instead of the Nokia G11. However, this is all speculation at the moment. A separate NokiaPowerUser report adds that the Nokia G10 with model number TA-1334 may launch as a gaming device. It appears that there might be at least one variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The letter ‘G’ in the moniker reportedly stands for gaming.

The Nokia G10 is also said to carry an octa-core processor and a 6.4-inch display. Other alleged features associated with the smartphone include a quad rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary shooter and fast charging support. The phone will reportedly pack similar features as the Nokia 5.4, which is currently available in India in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants for Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,499, respectively.

To recall, the Nokia 5.4 packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, 16-megapixel selfie camera, and a 4,000mAh battery with support 10W fast-charging. The quad-camera setup includes a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. If the report about Nokia G10’s development is accurate, the phone may pack similar features.
