VideoLAN teamed up with Giroptic, a 360-degree camera maker, to bring on the new feature to its users.

VLC developers, VideoLAN, launched a preview of the same for Windows and Mac allowing any user of these platforms to play 360-degree videos. The full version is expected to launch within this month with VLC 3.0.

The system will allow mouse and keyboard to control the point of view. It is meant to work for displaying videos, Panorama shots and pictures.

The company is also planning to launch the feature for mobile users sometime next year. The mobile app might also support various VR headsets available in the market. The app is set to include 360-degree audio support with head tracking headphones.

Users should wait for the original version of the app to come out instead of getting the preview version. The developers will soon be able to debug the preview version and launch the refined experience of the app.
