New Delhi: Xiaomi, alongside the Redmi 2, has launched its Mi Pad tablet in India. Priced at Rs 12,999, the 7.9-inch Mi Pad tablet will be available in India from March 24 - the same day the Redmi 2 is scheduled to go on sale on Flipkart.
The Mi Pad will also be exclusively available on Flipkart, but unlike the flash sale strategy that Xiaomi has been following for most of its Mi and Redmi phones, the MiPad in India will go on open sale i.e., there are no pre-registations required for the Mi Pad, said Xiaomi India head Manu Jain, adding, the announcement page for the Mi Pad will be live on the e-commerce site on March 16.
The company is currently introducing the 16GB (expandable up to 128GB) model in India, but, Xiaomi vice president Hugo Barra said, "we may bring the 64GB model to India sometime later". The Mi Pad will be available only in white colour in India.
Beating under its hood is a Tegra K1 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM. The tablet sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It is packed with a 6700mAh battery.
