Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been launched in India today at a price of Rs 16,999. The Mi Max 2 comes as the successor of the Mi Max phablet launched last year in the country. Similar to the Mi Max, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 offers a huge 6.44-inch display and weighs a massive 211 grams. The Mi Max 2 features a full-metal unibody and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and houses a 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. Xiaomi has been teasing about the release of its latest smartphone using the slogan "Big is Back" for quite a while now on its social media handles.
The Mi Max 2 comes with a 6.44-inch 1080p Full HD display which is protected by a 2.5D curved glass. Along with this, Xiaomi has used a Sony IMX 386 sensor in its 12-megapixel rear camera. There is a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. Powered by a massive 5,300mAh battery, the smartphone runs the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with its custom MIUI. The 7.6 mm thick smartphone also sports a fingerprint sensor at the back.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be available in a Matte Black colour in India topped by a fingerprint resistant coating. As a promotional offer at the launch, Reliance Jio is offering additional 100GB 4G data to Mi Max 2 buyers.
Xiaomi India also announced a third-anniversary sale to mark their 3 years of operations in the country. The Mi Anniversary Sale will be held on July 20 and July 21 starting 12 pm, across Mi official website and Mi home - the Xiaomi offline retail stores. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will also be available with the start of the Mi Anniversary Sale on Xiaomi's own online and offline platforms. July 27 onwards, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be available across all Xiaomi India online and offline partners.
Xiaomi has achieved a record high number of quarterly smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2017. The Chinese smartphone company has reportedly shipped 23.16 Million smartphones in this time period, indicating an increase of 70 percent from the previous quarter. Xiaomi has gained the Number 2 spot in the overall Indian smartphone market. Even Xiaomi’s revenue has seen a rise of 328 percent year on year as per the letter, with Redmi Note 4 becoming the highest shipped smartphone in India.
