YouTube Brings New Volume Control Feature For Android TV: How It Works
YouTube is widely used on Android smart TVs by millions so having a useful feature like volume control is a welcome addition.

YouTube has started the rollout of a new ‘Stable Volume’ feature for its apps on Android TV and Google TV devices. Introduced initially to the YouTube mobile app in 2023, the feature intends to address the issue of fluctuating volume levels in videos to improve the users’ audio experience.

According to 9To5Google, the Stable Volume feature works by automatically adjusting the volume of the videos. This means the users don’t have to look for their remotes to raise the volume during a normal conversation scene or lower it during an action sequence on their Android TV.

As per Google, the new feature will be turned on by default on TV. Also, the Stable Volume balances the range between quiet and loud, continuously adjusting volume levels to reduce variations in sound.

However, if any user prefers to manage the volume adjustments manually, they can simply turn it off via the settings tab. The portal spotted the Stable Volume tab on the Android TV and Google TV devices running on the latest YouTube version 4.40.303.

Users can access this feature by tapping the gear icon during video playback which will prompt the Stable Volume toggle on the screen. The stable volume is a helpful feature for casual listening on YouTube, especially for podcasts or videos where consistent sound is not always guaranteed.

However, this feature might not be useful in all situations, like when listening to Music Due to the lack of a dedicated YouTube Music app for Android TV, the toggle is still present when playing music on YouTube.

YouTube has recently been releasing new features to enhance user experience. The Google-owned platform is developing a new feature called the ‘Sleep Timer’ for its Android app. This feature was discovered during an APK teardown of a beta version of the YouTube app for Android version 19.25.33. It includes strings to start, reset, and set the duration of a sleep timer.
