YouTube, in a recent blog post, unveiled the numbers it is able to achieve of the monthly users of the video-based platform. After giving a keynote at VidCon in California, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki wrote in the blog post that YouTube has crossed a threshold of 1.5 Billion users in a month. On a daily basis, these users spend more than an hour on YouTube as for only the mobile users of the platform.
Other key announcements were also mentioned in the blog post. One of them is that the company has tied up with Daydream to create VR180 that delivers 3D videos while users capture an 180-degree viewing angle around them. Along with this, YouTube is working with camera companies like LG, Yi and Lenovo to make budget VR180 cameras. With these steps, YouTube aims to make VR content easily producible for creators and more accessible to viewers.

YouTube also announced an overhaul of its app and desktop website. Under this, the YouTube mobile app has been updated to adapt to the size of the video best suited for the mobile viewing device. While the desktop update includes a ‘Dark theme’ to give the website a cooler look.
YouTube CEO revealed that the platform’s original content under the tag of YouTube Red Originals has till date gained close to 250 Million views. Aiming to expand this further, YouTube is now working on 12 new projects as the site’s original.
