As the nation comes alive with the celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi, actress Divyanka Tripathi has opened up about her cherished memories of the festival. She shared how this auspicious occasion holds a special place in her heart and revealed what makes Ganeshotsav particularly meaningful to her. Divyanka highlighted her favourite aspects of the festival.
Divyanka Tripathi shared insights into how the festival’s celebration has evolved from her childhood in Bhopal to her current life in Mumbai. Speaking to Pinkvilla, she said, “Throughout my time on Ganpati in Bhopal, as kids, me, my sister and my brother would enjoy the festival. We used to get Ganpati Bappa home and we used to do puja but the entire meaning of it changed when I came in Mumbai. Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra is entirely different.” She expressed that passion and faith remain constant in all parts of the country but the intensity shifts dramatically, which is one of her favourite aspects of Mumbai.
Divyanka said, “The best part of the festival is that we get to meet our loved ones at least once in a year, which is difficult for people living in Mumbai, but still, this occasion becomes a great reason to reunite with our loved ones.” Moreover, the actress shared that she also enjoys many Maharashtrian delicacies, especially her favourite, Ukkdiche Modak. She added that whenever she visits her friends during the festival she packs the Ukkdiche Modak for them.
Divyanka Tripathi is quite well known for her role in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. She recalled how the production house Balaji Telefilms would bring a Ganpati idol on the set. She narrated, “On one hand, we used to do puja of the Ganpati idol along with the entire celebration of the festival onscreen. At times, we didn’t get to celebrate these festivals elaborately in real life but during the shoot of such special occasions we used to enjoy shooting for each ritual.”
Divyanka Tripathi concluded with a heartfelt message for her fans, urging them to reconnect with loved ones during the festive season. She emphasised that this time of year offers a unique opportunity to strengthen personal bonds, which is often missed during the rest of the year.
