Devotees Wear Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 180 Crore To Venkateswara Temple, Internet In Shock

Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati is considered one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. The holy temple witnesses thousands of devotees from across the world arriving at the site seeking blessings from the lord. On Friday, an unusual scene caught the internet’s attention as a family from Pune was clicked arriving at the temple for a dazzling spectacle. How, you may ask? They were wearing an extraordinary 25 kg of gold jewellery for their spiritual visit to the temple.

In a video that surfaced on the internet, the devotees can be seen embracing traditional trends as they wore ethnic clothes, perfect for the temple visit. However, what left many intrigued was the choice of the jewellery they accessorised the outfit with. Donning layers of glittering gold, the family comprised two men, a woman and a boy. Their several gold chains, gold sunglasses, bangles, necklaces, a ‘7’ number gold chain and other ornaments were worth Rs 180 crore, as reported by PTI. Further, the family was guarded by two men in navy blue khaki suits along with a cop as they sought blessings at the temple.

Upon being shared, the video immediately garnered reactions from many, with some of them even flaunting their wealth during a temple visit.

One of the users wrote, “Would have come to show who is richer. Are these guys mad to show off the gold.”

“By the looks of it, they came for a photoshoot rather than darshanam. You are supposed to keep your ego(aham) outside before you enter a temple,” added another.

An individual also made a sarcastic comment that read, “These devotees came to pray that the government shouldn’t further reduce the import duty on gold.”

Day before the display of gold, actor Chiranjeevi also visited the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala on the occasion of his birthday. He was accompanied by wife Surekha Konidala and a granddaughter for his trip to the sacred site. Acknowledging the paparazzi stationed at the venue, he greeted them with a bright smile and folded hands. After offering prayers to Balaji, the actor was snapped exiting the temple premises with his family.
