Child actor Iain Armitage, best known for playing the young Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory’s prequel spinoff, recently met Jim Parson, the “adult” Sheldon Cooper. Both of them made a hilarious video about the “ageing filter”. In the clip, Iain looks into the camera and says he wants to try this filter that shows how one looks after they age. He puts his hand on the phone camera for a second, and next we see Jim holding the phone. Jim pretends that he is the filter effect and says “Oh, it changes your voice too.”
Ian shared this clip on Instagram on April 30 and it already got over eight lakh likes. The video was simply captioned, “Is this how these filters work?? If so, welcome to Fun with Filters!!” One of the most popular comments on this video points to the fact that maybe the makers of Young Sheldon are filming a cameo with Jim as it appears that both actors are on a set. Making this speculation, an Instagram user wrote, “If they are together on set that only means one thing….” This insinuation got over 63,000 likes.
An Instagram user commented on the similarity between Iain and Jim and wrote, “No one cannot convince me they’re not the same person.” Someone joked, “Oh no guys…Sheldon invented time travel and met his future self.” Another commented, “I was about to say, You look like the guy who plays Sheldon until I realised you are the guy who plays Sheldon.”
Many people admitted to watching Young Sheldon when they spotted this video. Making this point, an Instagram user wrote, “Okay I have just started watching “Young Sheldon” and now you suddenly appear to be a teen!” Another admitted, “The way I was watching young Sheldon and opened my phone to this.”
Young Sheldon is set between 1989 and 1994 and covers Sheldon Cooper’s childhood as he grows up with his family in East Texas. Young Sheldon was narrated by Jim Parson, who is also one of the executive producers of the show. This spinoff started in 2017 and after seven seasons it will be concluding with the finale episode on May 16, 2024.
However, the show’s fans need not be disappointed as the makers announced that a spin-off series focused on Sheldon’s brother Georgie Cooper and his wife Mandy McAllister was in development.
