A picture of Viswanathan with American-Canadian chess player Alexandra Valeria Botez and her sister Andrea has spread like wildfire on social media. Alexandra shared the pictures on X (formerly known as Twitter). While the first picture shows the Botez sisters posing with Viswanathan, the second one is a close-up of Anand, carrying an ‘awkward’ reaction on his face. Along with the pictures, Alexandra added a hilarious caption that read, “Why does it look like we took Viswanathan Anand hostage.”

As soon as the photos were shared, netizens couldn’t help but ROFL.
A user wrote, “Lol he’s thinking the next move,” while another one asked the sisters to “release” him. “Checkmate by two queens,” a third user commented, while a fourth one wrote, “Trust me that’s the happiest face I’ve ever seen of him.”
“He is thinking of a move where the King is between 2 Queens and no pawns on the board,” another person quipped.
The tweet has so far gained a lot of reactions, with over 1.4 million views and more than 20,000 likes.
The pictures come weeks after the chess legend grabbed attention by showing off his singing skills at Lollapalooza 2024. It was during iconic singer Sting’s performance on the stage, that Viswanathan was seen having a joyous moment. He also shared a video of his experience on social media, bragging that he knows most of The Police’s songs and even Sting’s solo albums. “When I was very young, songs like “Every Breath You Take” and “Roxanne” by The Police made a huge impression on me. Fast forward to now, and I can say I know most of their songs and Sting’s solo albums as well. They’ve been a constant on my playlist over the years,” he wrote.
