Man Teaches 12-Year-old Brother About Periods, His Duties as Man in Viral Video

Historically, periods have been stigmatised and viewed as impure. Even today, many still don’t feel comfortable talking about it in public or even in private with family and friends. However, this sibling duo is breaking down the stigma surrounding periods and promoting greater understanding and empathy toward those who menstruate. The video is now going viral on social media. Many are lauding the steps taken by the elder brother to normalise periods.

The viral video opens to show a man driving a car to receive his younger brother on his 12th birthday. As soon as the birthday boy steps inside the car, his elder brother wishes him a happy birthday. To make the session more engaging, the elder brother asks the younger one if he has a girlfriend. Replying to it, the younger brother says yes. As the boy was not much aware of the term ‘periods,’ the elder brother initiates the menstruation talk and describes each and everything to him. The birthday boy was surprised after listening to all this. As a next step, the big brother teaches him how to get sanitary napkins. The younger brother visits a pharmacy and asks for sanitary napkins. The user concluded the video with a message from his younger brother to make all the girls around him feel safe.
