‘One Of The Hardest Challenges’: MrBeast Spends 7 days In An Abandoned City
Kupari was abandoned after it was bombed heavily during the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s.

One can trust MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson to come up with some of the most bizarre, grand, and extreme videos. Recently, Jimmy and his friends tried to spend seven days in an abandoned city. The 25-year-old YouTuber and his friends were dropped on top of a building in Kupari, an abandoned coastal village in Croatia. Kupari was abandoned after it was bombed heavily during the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s. The small village comprises seven massive hotels, the oldest of which, Grand Hotel Kupari, was built in 1920. Jimmy and his friends were given a stock of supplies such as sleeping bags, instant food, and water to survive in the city. While sharing this video, Jimmy described the experience as “one of the hardest challenges we’ve ever done."

On their first day, the group first established a base in a building that was open from the sides. This exposed them to extreme cold in the night. During the night, they also heard sounds of breaking glass, which was later revealed to be done by science YouTuber Mark Rober who was part of the challenge. At some point in the video, two of the team members left the challenge after half of their water supply got damaged. It left only Jimmy and Mark to finish the challenge.

So far this 17-minute-long video has gathered over 67 million views, since it was posted on March 2. Commenting on it, a user wrote, “Love how the man is so successful yet still enjoys living with 3 sticks and a rock for a week. Pure entertainer." Another commented, “Imagine Jimmy renovates the whole city."

However, some people were displeased by Jimmy’s team members abandoning the challenge mid-way. A user commented, “It wasn’t a challenge if you were willing to quit based on a loss of supplies, even water. It would have been way more interesting if you made any effort towards foraging for supplies and finding a new water source." Another sarcastically wrote, “So they basically survived with all the resources made available beforehand."

This is not the first time that Jimmy has made videos on ‘survival’ challenges. In August last year, one of his videos titled ‘7 Days Stranded at Sea’ recorded a staggering 46 million views in just 23 hours.

Jimmy shared this moment on X (Formerly Twitter) and wrote, “New video broke the world record for most views in 24 hours on a non music video! I’m living the life I would dream of every night when I was 13. I love all of you and thank you so much for watching our videos!!! I’ll never take you all for granted."

He added, “Also, I don’t ever want to hear I only get views because I give away money. We broke the world record with me and my friends suffering and cracking jokes lol."

What's your reaction?
