A “mysterious” monolith was discovered in a Nevada desert, Las Vegas and officials have no idea about its origin. This has sparked curiosity about what it is and who is behind it. The Las Vegas Police Department first spotted the monolith during a search and rescue operation in the Las Vegas Valley. This structure bears a striking resemblance to other perplexing monoliths that appeared globally in 2020. The towering, rectangular, reflecting object was noticed close to the Nevada desert hiking destination Gass Peak.
The monolith seems to be situated amid quite a rough terrain in photos posted to social media handle by the police. “MYSTERIOUS MONOLITH!” Las Vegas police stated on X (formerly Twitter)
“We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but check this out! Over the weekend, @LVMPDSAR (sic) spotted this mysterious monolith near Gass Peak north of the valley.”

The monolith is somewhat reminiscent of those in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The renowned film, based on the novel by author Arthur C. Clarke, features imposing black monoliths made by an inaccessible extraterrestrial species.
The tallest mountain in Las Vegas is the Gass mountain hiking route, which is located around 20 miles to the north of the city and has a top elevation of over 7,000 feet, according to CBS News.
A silver monolith was discovered in Wales by a hiker back in March, and several such constructions appeared all around the world in 2020.
Although the real location of the monolith was not disclosed at the time by the Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau, its unexpected emergence in November of that year caused a frenzy.
Conspiracies regarding aliens and the idea that the buildings’ appearance is the result of a well-thought-out practical joke have been popularised since the previous monoliths’ origins were never disclosed.
