Many people appreciated the X posts for capturing an honest portrayal of the high points and low points of one’s life.

At the end of the year, most of us turn reflective and look back at all the things that happened over the year. Many people take to social media to share their reflections. However, many such posts are self-congratulatory and rarely show one’s shortcomings. Now a series of 15 posts by X user ‘ash’ (ashittaaaa) are raking in likes for the honest portrayal of one’s ups and downs. The post starts with how ‘ash’ had to resign from her job because of health reasons. She then goes on to show how she navigated job rejections, took care of her gut health, traveled, and worked around complications in close relationships.

In a vulnerable admission, ‘ash’ wrote, “Applied to around 50 companies and got ghosted/rejected by all. Gave the worst interviews I’ve ever given. Some of them told me I’ll have to intern first with 1/3 of my previous salary. My confidence crashed.” She later admitted, “Gave up on looking for a job” and “took a small trip to Bombay to meet my bestie, close friends and bf” in a bid to restore her emotional wellbeing.

At one point, ‘ash’ confesses, “Exhausted from relatives, guests, no job, no time to draw, no time to exercise, constantly falling sick, not doing photography, no personal space to write in journal and bank account close to nil. My feelings suicide resurfaced. bff and bf stayed up nights and helped.”

However, her efforts bore fruit when landed a job through Behance. To make this occasion even better her father gave her an iPad on the same day. In her posts, ‘ash’ admitted how she struggled in her close relationships and wrote, “Didi ki shaadi, my relationship with her got worse right before the wedding, things are still a big fat mess. Could manage to leave things behind and get her married with lots of fun and love.”

She concluded with, “In the midst of everything, I started writing, then I started blogging, then I started posting those on Substack. Now I have 40 subscribers and Omg I never knew people would enjoy reading some well organised thoughts and feelings I had all this time.”

Her posts have gathered over five lakh views and thousands of likes. An X user described it as the “Best motivating thread I have seen in a while.” Another wrote, “Saving it in my bookmarks to come back later when I need to remind myself that life’s tough but not more than your will and spirit to live and go through it all to emerge as a beautiful persona.”
