Venus Flytrap is a carnivorous plant that hunts its prey with its jaw-like leaves, leaving them immobile within 0.1 seconds from the initial contact. Known for engulfing insects and arthropods, Venus Flytrap tried to devour a whole slug in a recently viral video. However, the slug proved to be a fighter and was not going to go down without a fight.

The fight for survival by the slug while being trapped by the Venus Flytrap was caught on camera by a wildlife enthusiast and was posted on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Netizens were shocked to see the fighting spirit of the slug as it made its way out of the jaws like the leaves of Venus Flytrap. The video has garnered over 20 million views till now.

In the video, a slug is seen approaching the plant, completely unaware of the danger that was waiting for him. The Venus flytrap’s two leafy “jaws” were sitting open, just waiting for an unsuspecting insect to come along so it could shut. As soon as the slug came in contact with the plant, its leaves began to shut in an attempt to devour the slug. Initially, it felt like that it was going to be the lights out for the slug before it showed a remarkable fighting spirit to unclench him from the thorny leaves of the plant.

It struggles against the closing “jaws” of the plant and after a few seconds, it starts to push through the top of the leaves. Determined to live, the slug continues to wriggle and snake its body out of the grasp of the flytrap. It manages to make a full escape and get out from the inside of the plant. Netizens were shocked to see the escape by the slug. One of the users said that he had never seen anything escape from the Venus flytrap while others said that the slug was able to make its way out due to its slimy body structure.
