Watch: US Vlogger Gives A Shout Out To India's Cleanest City, Anand Mahindra Can't Keep Calm
The clip captures the US vlogger’s amazement at finding Indore’s outstanding cleanliness habits during a visit to a street side eatery.

Due to its vast population and rapid urbanisation, India faces umpteen cleanliness challenges. Poor waste management, lack of public toilets, and inadequate infrastructure add to the woes. In densely crowded regions, managing hygiene becomes more challenging. But, some places are slowly adopting an effective waste management technique. Indore, which is one of the cleanest Indian cities, has set an example. So, when a US vlogger highlighted the exceptional hygiene practice in the city of Madhya Pradesh, Mahindra Group CEO Anand Mahindra could not help but wish the same cleanliness culture to spread throughout the nation.

On May 22, Anand Mahindra shared a video of US travel vlogger Max McFarlin on X (formerly Twitter). The clip captures the vlogger’s amazement at finding Indore’s outstanding cleanliness habits during a visit to a street side eatery. It begins with the visuals of a local man picking up food from the ground which he accidentally dropped. After collecting the crumbs on a steel plate he disposes of the utensil on a dustbin. The vlogger adds that he always finds someone cleaning in Indore, resulting in the city’s pristine condition. He points out that the people here use steel plates and place them inside separate waste bins after having food.

The video also displays a washbasin where diners can wash their hands. The vlogger also notes Indore’s lack of plastic and paper usage, which pose a major threat to the environment. There was zero litter on the streets, and the natives were extremely vigilant about always keeping the place clean. “Cannot help dreaming: If this were to be replicated throughout the country,” read Anand Mahindra’s hopeful note.

X users shared the same sentiment, wishing for a better tomorrow in terms of hygiene habits. “India would look very different if more cities had residents like those in Indore who prioritize cleanliness,” noted one individual. “Cleanliness and order are not matters of mere taste and upbringing, they are among the essential requirements of human beings,” opined another. “The mentality has to be changed for this,” asserted a person.

According to the annual Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023, released on January 11 by the Central government, Indore has been ranked the cleanest city in India for seven consecutive years.
