From some bizarre food concoctions to delectable-looking dishes, we have seen almost everything on the internet. But have you ever seen colourful idlis or someone making them? And that too with natural colours, extracted from various ingredients? Food colours are often added to different dishes to make them look more appealing. One such video featuring a woman making colourful idlis has recently surfed online and created a buzz. While some shared how much they love the colour of the idlis, others were apprehensive about the taste of the food.
The video clips open to show a woman flaunting the platter of colourful idlis. As the video progresses, the viewers can see how she extracted colours from natural food sources, like spinach for green colour, beetroot for pink colour, butterfly pea flower for purple tint, turmeric for yellow colour, turmeric and beetroot for orange shade. She adds all these colours in normal idli batter separately. After that, she adds a small amount of mix from the coloured idli batters to make one idli in the steaming dish and proceeds to cook them. She repeats the same to make more idlis. After some time, she serves these colourful idlis in a bowl. The video was posted by an Instagram user named @rohinis.kitki. Sharing the video, the user wrote, “Holi Idli Bombs. Beetroot, Turmeric + Beetroot, Turmeric, Butterfly Pea Flowers, Spinach. So excited for Holi this year.”
