A helicopter team later retrieved his body and transported it to a hospital in Carisolo for further examination. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is currently underway, with the Italian Prosecutor’s Office involved. The date for Longo’s funeral will be announced once his body is released to his family.
Born in Rimini, Italy, in 1962, Longo graduated with a degree in political science. He began his career in the automotive industry at Fiat in 1987, where he developed his marketing skills before taking charge of the Lancia brand in 2002. Longo joined Audi in 2012 and became the director of its Italian operations the following year, according to the New York-based report.
Under his leadership, Audi Italy achieved success and maintained a strong presence in the premium automotive segment for over a decade. Longo was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his passion for environmental conservation. He frequently advocated for the protection of the Adamello region against climate change. Flavio Roda, president of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, expressed condolences, calling Longo’s death “a terrible loss.”
