Cristiano Ronaldo Approached By WWE To Appear At Their Crown Jewel Event
According to reports from Spanish publication AS, WWE is currently working on a deal with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to be featured as a celebrity guest at the wrestling show in Saudi Arabia, scheduled in November.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been approached by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to make an appearance at their Crown Jewel event in November.

According to reports from Spanish publication AS, WWE is currently working on a deal with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to be featured as a celebrity guest at the wrestling show in Saudi Arabia, scheduled in November.

The owners aim to boost the profile of the event by bringing in one of the most recognisable stars in sports. Reports also suggest a ‘large appearance fee’ which could improve the chances of striking a deal with the footballer. Ronaldo’s appearance could also help boost the revenue generated by the WWE event significantly.

Cristiano Ronaldo had moved to Saudi Pro League Al Nassr from Manchester United after the 2022 World Cup. After a few early hiccups, Ronaldo seems to have adapted to his life in Saudi Arabia.

He recently won his first trophy with the club after spearheading Al Nassr to a victory against Al Ittihad in the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023. The Portuguese star also finished the competition as the tournament’s top scorer.

Even if WWE does manage to get Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature for an appearance at WWE Crown Jewel, the Portuguese superstar wouldn’t be the first football superstar to attend a live wrestling event.

Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney is the most recognisable player to feature on an episode of WWE.

In 2015, Rooney was accused of diving in an FA Cup fixture to win a penalty by WWE superstar Wade Barrett. Manchester United ended up winning the game 3-1 after which a hilarious exchange followed between the two on platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The drama was rekindled when WWE was doing one of its traditional November shows in the UK later that year.

Rooney was spotted in the stands for the Manchester edition of RAW. The English footballer decided to slap Barrett after a brief exchange of words. However, the pair were reportedly on good terms outside the ring.

WWE was recently acquired by UFC owners Endeavor earlier this year in April to create a “$21 billion+ live sports entertainment powerhouse”. Their interest in Cristiano Ronaldo is purely based on promoting their sport in exchange for a handsome fee.

However, WWE NXT superstar Apollo Crews made some bold statements about Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential as a wrestler while speaking to Metro last year.

According to him, he would have been able to keep up in the WWE because of his elite mentality. “I think just on the mentality alone he would have done okay,” Crews said.
