WWE superstar CM Punk made a cheeky reference to his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) All Out 2022 media scrum while responding to Roxanne Perez on social media. Perez recently completed a successful NXT Women’s Championship defence against Guilia during the October 1 episode of NXT. To celebrate her success, Perez shared an Instagram post that featured a photo of herself and a visibly annoyed Punk. In the caption, she wrote, “Told ya Chicago was going to be my town CM Punk.” The former WWE Champion replied to the post while referring to his infamous rant at the AEW press event in 2022. “I’m hurt, I’m old, I’m tired and I work with children,” read his comment.
CM Punk did not mince his words during his infamous AEW interview two years ago. The Second City Saint was quite upset after beating Jon Moxley in the main event of All Out 2022. Despite re-capturing the AEW World Championship, Punk launched a verbal tirade against his former friend Colt Cabana and Hangman Adam Page. While he did not call out the stars by name, Punk said, “I’m hurt, I’m old, I’m tired and I work with f***ing children.”
CM Punk spent several minutes lashing out against the AEW Executive Vice Presidents. He also discussed his relationship with Colt Cabana at the event while referring to him by his real name Scott Colton. As per Forbes, he said, “My relationship with Scott Colton ended long before I paid all of his bills…It’s 2022, I haven’t been friends with this guy since at least 2014, late 2013. And the fact that I have to sit up here, because we have irresponsible people who call themselves EVPs, and couldn’t f***king manage a Target.”
Following the rant, CM Punk even engaged in a brawl that involved him, his long-time friend Ace Steel, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. He was subsequently suspended and stripped off his title after the infamous brawl. He returned from the suspension in June 2023 but was fired within months after a backstage altercation with Jack Perry.
Years after his infamous rant, CM Punk looked at the funnier side of his statements at AEW. The multi-time World Champion did not hesitate to bring up the controversial ‘pipe bomb’ while replying to Roxanne Perez.
CM Punk recently served as the guest referee in the main event of the October 1 episode of NXT. That match saw Trick Williams recapture the NXT Championship from Ethan Page. Punk will now have his eyes set on ending his ongoing feud with Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood. The duo will face each other for a third time in a Hell in a Cell match.
