'Bigger Than 2015': Josh Hazlewood on Winning Record Sixth World Cup Title for Australia
Josh Hazlewood was all praise for the Australian team that won the World Cup 2023 with a shocking victory over the hosts India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After Australia managed to shock everyone and defeat India to claim their sixth World Cup title, the Aussie camp were elated with their win over the home side. One of the pivotal reasons behind this was the performance of their pacer, Josh Hazlewood.

After the win, he spoke to media personnel. He said,” This is bigger (than 2015). We won at home in front of our home fans but the challenges that we’ve been through in the last couple of months, coming here, playing in these conditions against India which is a pretty special team.

The pacer was all praise for the crowd that turned up in Ahmedabad, Hazlewood commented, “to win on a day like this is amazing. Such a great crowd, Indian fans are second to none, a few started to leave towards the end, amazing crowd.”

Hazlewood finishes the World Cup campaign having picked sixteen wickets in the tournament. Him along with Starc and Cummins were a crucial part of them securing the World Cup title.

Australia did not have the best start to the tournament after picking up losses against India and South Africa in the initial stages of the tournament. But they managed to bounce back with seven wins on the trot and went on to defeat the very same side. Regarding their mindset in the squad, “That’s just the belief in the squad. Just got on a run and tonight it’s the perfect game, we put it together when it counted.

Australia have extended their record with their sixth World Cup title with a shocking defeat over India at Ahmedabad. They have a stellar record in the tournament having taken part in the finals on eight occasions.
