For Mitchell Marsh, its seems like perhaps it’s not about going home, but more so about bringing it home. In a message sent to Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, it was revealed that Marsh will be likely to come back to India to help Australia in their hunt for their 6th World Cup trophy.
In a twist of the tale for an Aussie side that has seen plenty of the same this World Cup campaign, it was understood that opener Mitchell Marsh was flying home to Perth for personal reasons with no timeline for his return.
This came right after gaining knowledge that premium all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was ruled out of the team’s next game against England on Saturday as well.

“A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed,” read a Cricket Australia release. It is also unclear who/whether a replacement player will be brought in to the Aussie side. But, as it stands now, Marsh is out of the World Cup indefinitely.
But, perhaps the timeline may not be so extensive. All-rounder Marcus Stoinis revealed the message that the opener had left behind before he had left for home.

“He sent a message saying ‘I’ll be home for a little bit and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup”‘ said Stoinis to cricket.com.au.
So, perhaps Australian fans can breathe a little lighter now knowing that one cannot rule out the return of the talented opener to their squad sometime soon.
Marsh was a vital cog in the Australian batting line-up and in the absence of Travis Head had taken on the opening duties alongside David Warner. While Head returned to the top of the order with a scintillating century against New Zealand in a close win in Dharamsala, Marsh was moved down to No.3.
All that is needed for Australia to do now is to hold on and keep securing the wins in order to make the cut for the semi-finals. Hopefully, Marsh can come back in to make the difference needed to help Australia stage a wonderful end to their campaign in this World Cup.
