South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 5 wickets in their last group stage clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Chasing 245 for victory in Ahmedabad, South Africa saw Rassie van der Dussen make an unbeaten 76 as the Proteas reached their target with 15 balls to spare in a tune-up for their semi-final against Australia next week.
Azmatullah Omarzai had hit an unbeaten 97 to guide Afghanistan to 244 all out in a match where they needed an unlikely 438-run win to make the last four.

England are next on the list but have no chance of making it into the semifinals, but they can still finish in the top seven to reach the Champions Trophy 2025.
Bangladesh sit in eighth place in the points table, they have four points from eight games after their win over Sri Lanka in a controversial game. Bangladesh currently occupy the final Champions Trophy berth, since Pakistan will finish in the top seven.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are in ninth place with four points in 9 matches, while the Dutch have fallen to rock bottom in the points table despite having 4 points but the worst NRR among all other teams.
