The collaboration aims to integrate public charging stations across platforms, promoting sustainable mobility and contributing to India's energy transition.

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with automotive manufacturer MG Motor India.

The aim is to boost India’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The collaborative partnership will create charging solutions for electric vehicles and value-added services for MG’s EV customers across the country, as well as assist in constructing a robust and efficient charging infrastructure to support India’s fast-developing EV ecosystem.

Under the conditions of the MoU, ATEL will install CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships to strengthen the charging network and improve customer accessibility. The alliance will also provide a complete charging infrastructure solution, which includes supply, commissioning, installation, operation, and maintenance.

To provide a smooth user experience, a digital platform will also be introduced. This platform will include discovery, user identification, charging, and billing settlement through a specific mobile application.

By using advanced application programming interfaces (APIs) to improve network visibility and accessibility, both parties will investigate the possibility of integrating public charging stations across platforms as part of this strategic cooperation.

Through this integration, the Personal Communication Service (PCS) Network will be more visible and accessible, and users will have a seamless experience across the combined network that is owned and operated by both parties.

“The world is embracing more sustainable and clean energy sources and electric vehicles are at the forefront of this transition. Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited’s and MG Motor India’s partnership to develop charging infrastructure marks a significant milestone and will play a crucial role in accelerating India’s energy transition. This effort will contribute towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner and greener environment,” said Suresh P Mangalani, ED and CEO, ATGL as quoted in the Press Release.

The collaboration will improve customer experience by making Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies available to MG users at crucial spots throughout ATEL’s public charging network, particularly at airports.

In 2023, MG Motor India was given new life when the Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group acquired over 33 percent of the business, as per reports. Retail sales for MG Motor India fell by 23 percent year over year in March 2024, to 4,648 units.

The automaker stated that IT saw a year-over-year increase in sales of about 14 percent in FY 2023–2024 compared to FY 2022–2023, reports add.
