It’s official! Kia Motors, the South Korean budget car manufacturer, has officially launched the Indian website to announce its entry in India. Kia Motors announced its India entry this April and has now come up with a detailed plan to take forward the India entry. Kia Motors has already announced that they are looking for the dealer partners and will start roadshows to scout for prospective dealers.
As for the website, it clearly indicates that Kia Motors has started accepting dealership and job applications now. Neither has Kia mentioned about the cars to be showcased during the roadshow, nor they have divulged any details on the cars that will make their way to India.
For whatever it takes, it will be the Kia Picanto and the Kia Rio sedan that should be the first launches to lure prospective customers, as both of them are high-volume cars. But to grab some eyeballs, Kia has to showcase the Kia Stinger at the coming 2018 Auto Expo.
Kia is showing the Kia Provo Concept at the road-show tab, and Stinger on the consumer website, where you can go to apply as a dealer, or check the details of the Indian plant, that will be constructed in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, starting Q4 2017.
The plant is being built with an investment of US$1.1 billion, and is expected to begin production in the second half of 2019, with an annual production capacity of approximately 3,00,000 units.
Kia is expected to showcase at least 3-4 products at the Auto Expo 2018.
