Kannada Film Celebrities To Join Karnataka Bandh Protest Over Cauvery Water Dispute: Reports
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has sent an invitation to actors and technicians in the industry to be a part of the protest.

The Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has become a national issue now. In August, Tamil Nadu asked for 15,000 cusecs of water from Karnataka for 15 days. In return, Karnataka reduced it to 10,000 cusecs. This has recognised the issue once again. There have been various protests happening in Karnataka. Many celebrities from the Karnataka film industry have extended their support to the farmers who are protesting against the dispute.

According to reports, it has been found that several members of the Kannada film industry are expected to join the protest as a part of the Karnataka bandh called to oppose the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has also sent an invitation to actors and technicians in the industry to be a part of the protest.

They even went to Kannada actor Shivarajkumar to discuss the issue. Initially, he was questioned by them about the protest but when he was told that the support would be extended to the farmers, he immediately agreed to be a part of the protest.

Apart from him, other big stars, including Dhruva Sarja, veteran Prema and others, will also be joining the protest at the Sri Gururaja Kalyaana Mantapa at High Grounds, Gandhi Nagar. Actor Kiccha Sudeep has also extended his support to the protest by writing a letter. So far, there has been no official statement from Yash, as he is currently in London and has been shooting for a film.

The newly elected KFCC president, NM Suresh, has revealed in his statement that the protest will be at 10:30 AM on September 29. He also added that the support from the Kannada film industry has been a huge add-on for the farmers.

Earlier, many actors like Leelavathi, Singer Vasishta Simha and Pooja Gandhi expressed their support to Karnataka farmers in the Cauvery water dispute. Apart from that, many theatres in the state have cancelled all their shows until Friday evening, as the Karnataka Film Exhibitors Association has declared its solidarity and support with the bandh.
