Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched warehousing facility ‘Bharat Mart’ in Dubai, in the presence of UAE Prime Minister and Vice-President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to strengthen the trade ties between the countries. The facility is expected to be operational by 2025.
The Bharat Mart, whose concept is yet to be finalised, will be similar to China’s ‘Dragon Mart’.
What Is Bharat Mart?
Bharat Mart is a warehousing facility which will be a unified platform for exporters to showcase their diverse range of products under one roof.
The facility, which will be set up in DP World-managed Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), will be spread in over 1 lakh square meters. It will serve as a multipurpose facility, offering a mix of warehouse, retail and hospitality units.
The Bharat Mart will have showrooms, offices, warehouses and supporting amenities for diverse goods ranging from heavy machinery to perishable items.
After the establishment of this distribution facility, importers near the UAE may also visit the facility to buy made-in-India products.
