New Delhi: Reliance Industries Ltd on Monday said that it is likely to repair and restart the fire-damaged secondary oil processing unit at its Jamnagar refinery by this month-end.
"We have started rebuilding the damaged unit. The damage is not of such a large magnitude as was projected. It will take 2-3 weeks to restart the unit," RIL CEO (Oil and Gas) P M S Prasad said.
The Jamnagar refinery's one of the vacuum gas oil unit, which removes sulphur from oil products, was shut on October 25 after a fire broke out.
Prasad said there has been no production loss due to the fire and the refinery was producing LPG at its normal capacity of 7,200 tonnes per day.
The fire had no impact on major equipments. The company had earlier stated that it was utilising capacity at a second hydro treater to ensure stable production.
Sources said the resource base of Dhirubhai 1 and 3 gas finds had been raised since filing of original FDP. Against the 5.3 trillion cubic feet proved plus probable reserves, RIL now estimated 11.3 tcf reserves in the two discoveries.
The ultimate reserve in the two fields stands at 21 tcf. The company has made more than a dozen discoveries from the 15 wells drilled in the deep-sea block KG-DWN-98/3 (also known as KG-D6) but only four discoveries - Dhirubhai 1, 2, 3 and 6 – have been declared commercial. Off these only, Dhirubhai 1 and 3 are being developed in first phase.
First gas will now land in July 2008 at a gas processing facility near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh through a 35-km, 24-inch diameter pipeline.
Reliance holds 90 per cent interest in Block D6 while Niko Resources of Canada has the remaining 10 per cent. Sources said the increased volumes would be sold at a price of $4-4.5 per million British thermal unit, thereby increasing the government revenues from the field.
The life of the field has been estimated at 18 years.
