To reach the dam at Piddathipuram village, take a left from the main road and proceed straight. Access to the embankment involves descending a steep staircase. The water at the dam is considered suitable for bathing, although, during our visit. Notably, the dam features a staircase, offering an intriguing sight of water flowing over each step. Visitors can enjoy the surroundings and take a dip upon reaching the embankment.
Bathing at the Piddathipuram dam, surrounded by natural landscapes of trees and mountains, offers a Kerala-esque experience. Despite the absence of changing facilities, the site is reported to be considered very safe for women. The increasing popularity of this location among Madurai residents has led to a significant influx of visitors, making it a notable tourist spot. As per religious sources, water in the dam is accessible when released from the Vaigai Dam during the rainy season.
