Ambati Rayudu has been creating much noise for his comments on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s heartbreaking defeat in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rayudu didn’t mince his words while dissecting RCB’s performance in the playoff game as part of the official expert panel. The six-time IPL winner, however, didn’t stop there. Rayudu, who played for Chennai Super Kings for six seasons, later shared a video on Instagram, mocking RCB. He was a key component of the CSK unit, which became the champions in the last edition. Rayudu dug out the archives and found a video where his former CSK teammates were seen celebrating their fifth IPL triumph inside the team bus.

In the clip, players like Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway and Moeen Ali were captured showing their five fingers, shedding light on the Chennai-based franchise’s decorated trophy cabinet. Ambtai Rayudu reshared the video as a “gentle reminder” for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have yet to lift their maiden IPL title. The former Indian batter wrote in the caption, “Just a kind reminder from the 5-time champions. Sometimes a gentle reminder is required.”
The post was able to garner massive traction on social media. CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana sensed the sarcasm behind it and dropped a couple of laughing emojis in the comment section. Another loyal member of the Yellow family, Deepak Chahar also reacted to the post with a ‘salute’ emoji.

Ambati Rayudu might have been left disappointed when RCB knocked CSK out of this IPL edition by beating them in the last league game. It was a virtual eliminator in Bengaluru where the hosts picked up a 27-run win to secure a last-moment entry into the Playoffs. Virat Kohli and other members of the RCB squad celebrated the win emphatically with the home crowd.
The gestures perhaps did not go down well with Ambati Rayudu. After RCB ended their journey in this year’s campaign, the CSK legend said on the post-match show, “If you talk about RCB today, it shows that only passion and aggressive celebrations don’t win you trophies. You need to plan. You didn’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger. Don’t think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again.”

After overcoming RCB in the Eliminator, Rajasthan Royals will now go head-to-head against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday, May 24. The winners of the contest will meet Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL final next Sunday in Ahmedabad.
