'Asked to Leave That No-ball and Move Forward': IND Pacer Akash Deep Reveals Unforgettable Moment With Rohit Sharma

Team India’s fast-bowler, Akash Deep had a lot of positives when speaking about playing under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. The pacer made his debut during the home Test series against England and seems to thrive playing under Rohit where he looks to become India’s third-choice pacer for the long run.

In an interview with the Times of India, the 27-year-old reflected on his brief period with the Indian side where he lauded Rohit’s man-management when onAkash the field.

“I always say it is a matter of good fortune and luck to play under Rohit bhaiya. I consider myself lucky to play under him. He is a different kind of captain; I have never seen a captain like him,” said the fast bowler who represents Bengal in the domestic circuit.

He further went on to state that Rohit would be the best captain he has played under and praised the calmness behind his leadership approach.

“He is the best captain I have played under. He is just a cool and calm person. He keeps things so simple and easy for every player, not just for me. You will be amazed at how a player of Rohit’s stature deals with a youngster like a friend and brother,” he shared.

Akash Deep had begun his international career on a dramatic note. During the second over of his debut Test that took place in Ranchi, the pacer had gotten the English opening batter, Zak Crawley out with the stumping cartwheeling away. But his celebration was shortlived as the buzzer went off, indicating he had overstepped, thus ruling the dismissal as invalid due to a no-ball.

But the captain went to the fast bowler with the former asking to move on ahead with the game understanding that such instances can happen to anyone.

“Rohit bhaiya came forward and motivated me after that no ball. He said, ‘ Aage badh, hota rehta hai.’ He asked me to leave that no ball behind and move forward. But as a bowler, you don’t forget such incidents,” Akash revealed.

The Indian captain continues show showcase his class on the leadership front and he will hope that Akash can continue to deliver performances like he did in Ranchi earlier. He will remain with the squad that will travel to Kanpur to play Bangladesh in the second Test and hope to once again make an impact with the ball.
