India recorded their third-lowest innings total in Test history when they were bowled out for 46 runs by New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

India made a couple of changes to their playing XI from the last Test with Shubman Gill missing out due to not being 100 per cent fit while Akash Deep being benched with spinner Kuldeep Yadav walking in. Gill was replaced by Sarfaraz Khan.

Under overcast skies, India opted to bat first something New Zealand captain Tom Latham also wanted to. However, it turned out to be a good toss to lose with the tourists running through India batting line up like a hot knife through butter.

By the time the lunch break was taken, India were tottering at 34/6 and added just 12 runs in the second session before crashing to their lowest ever innings total in a home Test.
